Question: Prayer seems like a huge waste of time?
According to some sects of Christianity, God has a “divine plan” – there is a predetermined course of events that God set forth when he created us all. Predetermined – that means that my writing this sentence was a part of God’s plan. I wouldn’t have done it if it wasn’t in God’s plan. If that’s the case, then why should I bother praying to God for anything (praying only in the sense of asking for something to happen). If someone’s mother goes into surgery and they pray for a safe recovery, what good will it do if He has already decided she won’t make it?

On a much larger scale, why would God hear the prayers to help that guy’s mother survive her surgery but then turn around and ignore the prayers of the 10 million innocent people who perished in the Holocaust? What possible explanation could there be that God decided to ignore the prayers of those that perished in the 911 attacks? Or in the Vietnam War? I’m not even going to get started on why God would allow the Crusades to happen in his name. The bottom line is this: if prayers can be heard, then millions of life-changing prayers are ignored every day. Why would a benevolent, merciful, loving, caring God do that?
“Prayer gives people hope”….incorrect. Prayer gives people false hope. It is alright to hope for something and wish for it come true. Praying implies that there is a chance, however small, that the mere fact that you asked for them to come true may have an effect on them occuring. And if prayer can give people false hope, think how dangerous it can be. Imagine you are a Jew living in Auschwitz the day before the occupation. You know the occupation is coming but decide to stay and pray that God will watch over your family….

“God helps those who help themselves”
“That’s because you have no faith in God, and don’t belive he’s listening….” You’re not listening. I didn’t say it was my prayers who are being ignored. There were tens of thousands of extremely religious and devout Jews that were wiped off the face of the earth. They prayed every day, even before they asked for what they needed most – for the God they believed in all their lives to save them. Instead he left them to choke in gas chambers at the hands of evil men.

As for your instance that “He is (listening)!” You have no proof. Only blind and ignorant faith. And if he was listening, screw him for ignoring the pleas of his devout followers.

“Christians says relgion is a test of faith. What if faith is a test of logic?”
“In the case of the Holocaust. the 10 million people died knowing that they were going to die and their prayers were for the salvation of their soul. This is why God did not change the course of the war but allowed them to die.”

Really? REALLY? So you mean to tell me of the 10 million people, not one person every prayed to have their life saved – they all ONLY prayed for the salvation of their soul? okaaay….several inconsistencies. 1) you can’t possibly know what every one of the 10 million people was thinking, “only God knows that” 2) even if they ALL prayed for their salvation, how do you know all their prayers were answered? 3) how could you know why God really allowed them to die. you don’t know God’s “master plan”

“He who thinks he knows it all knows nothing”
“….meanings can be lost or changed if the translation is translated more than once to make people finally accept the meanings that they want. it is best to go directly to the source in order to have the best most accurate meaning.”

Perhaps you don’t realize how fundamentally you have just proved my point. You just told me to go read a specific version of the Bible because you want to make sure you are not reading a mistranslation. The Bible was originally written in Aramaic, a now-dead language. How can you, who live your life based on your version of the Bible, be so sure that yours isn’t mistranslated too. How can any of us truly know what the real original translation meant. People still argue over the technical translation of some Shakespearean phrases and that was less than 400 years ago in a language very similar to modern day English.

Yesterday, I was standing in front of the barbershop minding my own bussiness and this girl runs up to me and says” Oh my god, You look just like Matther Mchaugnhey when he was in the wedding planner.” And then she giggles like she just gave me a compliment. Thats not a compliment thats an insult. What the hell, ladies? We, guys, dont do that to you. Do we?

Question: Do you feel like you have a “lesson to learn” coming up, but you just don’t know when?
So my fantastic mother in law kicked out my 18 year old brother in law, took away his phone and his truck (that HE PAID for but is in HER name) and pretty much didn’t care where he ended up. She did this because the kid refused to continue babysitting HER youngest child (who is 7) every day off he had so she could go party it up. I know her to actually force her youngest child upon a LOT of people (including myself) and that’s part of the reason why I convinced my husband to move 45 miles (at least) away from her. We used to live 10 minutes from her and it was a NIGHTMARE.

Anyway, so brother in law is now camped out on my couch, which is fine for now. But then I got to thinking: THIS is her revenge plot on me. She KNEW this is where he would go. My husband and I haven’t been on speaking terms with her since November of two years ago and we have had some confrontations with her since then. She KNEW he would be forced to come to our house, he would probably eventually cause some friction bc he’s so messy and he doesn’t even know how to do his own laundry (oh DON’T WORRY he’s going to learn how) or feed himself, doesn’t have a car, and we already have one kid, one on the way and share a house with another relative. She knew this would probably be the rock that tipped the boat, in other words. And that it would probably eventually force us to make contact with her for some odd reason. We haven’t talked to her since Thanksgiving of last year, since I’m not allowed to come to ANY of their families events PER HER. My husband said that if I’m not invited, then our entire family isn’t going either. She and I had some words over her vindictive ways, and I said basically “to hell with her” from that point on.

Well, I’m determined to prove her wrong. But I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t already starting to feel a little crowded in my already too-small house. We are working quickly to get him on his feet, but you know these things take time.

I asked my husband if he thought she was capable of such “plans” and he said that he wouldn’t put it past her and we will just have to NOT let the situation cause friction. But what if there is something ELSE that I am missing…could she have gone even deeper? And, besides already getting her son a line on my cell phone (it wasn’t too much actually) plan…what’s a good way to show her she’s not gonna win? And good revenge plots come to mind?
I just feel like I’m the person always wiping up her mess when she’s done. And the fact that we all know eventually she will “apologize” to him somehow and then get him to tell her everything “going on” at my house. She wants him there so he can spy.

I think that people that ruthless don’t even care where someone ends up after theyve used them..
Maybe she did or maybe she didn’t plan it, it doesn’t matter..
what matters is that you are NOT going to stand by and let her get away with it..!!
Hell or high water you’ll make her be accountable for what shes done.

The best thing you can do is become allies with this kid which youve done by helping him, he owes you, you can figure out the rest. Two people with a grevience against one tyrant is better than 1, and Im sure she’as more enemy if shes so brutal..
:P

Good luck to you & don’t get to caught up being as cruel as others; it’s bad karma.

Question: what can i carry tools in that is not a toolbox and is more inconspicuous? like in the wedding planner?
so i have a project due tomorrow and i’m really scared, but i need a “visual” and i don’t know wat to bring. so if u saw “the wedding planner” w/jennifer lopez i want something like that–something that is inconspicuous but is not hidden in my clothing. btw, my career is wedding planning, and i want an “out of the box” visual. ;) so what should i put these tools in? (i’m only doing a small-scale version of what it would actually be, so i’m putting some nails (maybe a hammer), crazy glue, and a mini sewing kit (or just a needle and thread). thanks, and the best answer gets TEN POINTS! <3
